Questions to ask before renting a bounce house: JAWS shark combo set up for a party

Renting a bounce house should be easy, but not every quote tells the full story. A few smart questions to ask before renting a bounce house can protect your budget, your guests and your party day. This checklist from Sea Breeze Bouncers, a family-run company in Laguna Niguel, lists 12 questions to put to any rental company, what a good answer sounds like, and how we answer each one.

Quick Answer: The 12 Questions at a Glance

# Ask this Red flag if…
1 Is delivery, setup and takedown included? They charge separately and the total keeps growing.

3 How is the unit anchored? No stakes or sandbags mentioned.
4 Are the blower and ground tarp included? You are expected to supply equipment.

6 Are there any hidden fees? The answer is vague.
7 What power do you need? No mention of outlet or generator.
8 What is the weather policy? No policy for wind or storms.
9 Can you provide documents my venue requires? No insurance paperwork available.
10 What are the age and capacity limits? No posted rules.

12 Can I see reviews and real units? No reviews or only stock photos.

The 12 Questions, With What a Good Answer Sounds Like

1. Is delivery, setup and takedown included in the price?

It should be. A professional rental covers delivery, setup and pickup in the daily rate. Our answer: yes, every rental includes delivery, professional setup and takedown by a trained crew.

2. Is every inflatable cleaned and sanitized between rentals?

Children bounce barefoot, so cleanliness matters. Our answer: each unit is inspected and professionally cleaned and sanitized before every rental. See how we do it in behind the scenes at Sea Breeze Bouncers.

3. How do you anchor the unit?

A good answer names the method for your surface. Our answer: stakes on grass and sandbags on hard surfaces such as concrete.

4. Are the blower, tarp and extension leads included?

Our answer: yes. Commercial blower(s), a ground tarp and anchoring come with the rental.

5. Will someone walk us through safety at setup?

Our answer: yes. We give a safety briefing at setup so every adult knows the rules. See our bounce house safety guide.

6. Are there any fees beyond the quoted price?

Ask for the all-in number. Our answer: the only possible add-ons are a generator if your venue has no outlet, or a small travel adjustment for events far outside our core area, and we confirm either before you book. See the cost guide.

7. What power do I need to provide?

Our answer: one standard 110V outlet within about 50 feet of the setup spot, or we can discuss a generator for parks and open spaces.

8. What is your weather policy?

Wind and storms make inflatables unsafe. Our answer: our units are not recommended in high winds or storms, and rescheduling is available if conditions are unsafe. Read our weather and wind guide.

9. Can you provide documents my venue requires?

Parks, schools and HOAs often ask for a certificate of insurance. Our answer: tell us your venue when you book and we will help you meet its requirements. See HOA rules for bounce houses and permits in Orange County parks.

10. What are the age, capacity and supervision rules?

Our answer: our units are recommended for ages 3 and up, adult supervision is required at all times, and posted capacity and safety rules must be followed.

11. Who delivers and sets up the unit?

You want trained staff, not a handoff. Our answer: our own crew delivers and sets up, and treats each party like their own family’s.

12. Can I see reviews and photos of the real units?

Our answer: yes. Our inflatables are custom-designed with manufacturers, and we are rated 5.0 across 53 Google reviews. Browse real units on our products page.

What Red Flags Should Make You Walk Away?

  • A price that is far lower than everyone else’s with no list of what is included.
  • No insurance or venue paperwork when you ask for it.
  • No safety briefing or setup supervision.
  • No weather policy or pressure to run the unit in wind.
  • Vague answers about cleaning, anchoring or capacity.
  • Pressure to book instantly without clear terms.
