Bounce House and Table Layout Guide for an Orange County Backyard

Published Nov 5, 2026 · Sea Breeze Bouncers

A good bounce house and table layout starts with the inflatable, because it needs the biggest flat area and a power outlet nearby. Reserve that space first, then fit tables and chairs into what is left, with a clear walkway between the two zones. In a typical Orange County backyard, a compact bounce house needs about 18×18 to 20×20 ft and a 30-guest seating setup uses four tables.

Quick Answer: How to Lay Out a Bounce House and Tables

  • Place the inflatable first on the flattest open area, within about 50 ft of a 110V outlet.
  • Reserve the full space, not just the unit’s footprint: about 18×18 to 20×20 ft for a compact bounce house, 32 to 34 ft by 20 ft for a large combo.
  • Face the entrance toward the adults so the supervising adult can see inside from the seating area.
  • Put tables in the remaining space, leaving a walkway between the seating zone and the bounce zone.
  • Keep heaters, grills and food prep well away from the inflatable, the blower and play areas.

Step 1: Know How Much Space Each Inflatable Needs

The space to reserve is larger than the unit itself because it allows room around the inflatable for the blower, anchoring and safe entry and exit. Use these figures when you measure:

Unit type Examples Unit size Space to reserve
Compact bounce house The Mermaid, Cool Shades Junior, The Hot Air Balloon 13×13 to 15×15 ft about 18×18 to 20×20 ft
Superhero combo The Web 17×17 ft about 22×22 ft
Standard water slide Unicorn Slide, Cool Shades, Wave Runner 2, Mega Block Slide 26 to 28 ft long, 10 ft wide about 31-33 x 15 ft
Large combo JAWS, Dolphin Diver, Tropical Paradise 27 to 29 ft by 15 ft about 32-34 x 20 ft
Biggest water slide Wave Runner 1 32x13x18 ft about 37×18 ft
Sports arena Inflatable Soccer Field 33×22 ft about 38×27 ft

Step 2: Work Out Your Seating

A 60-inch round table is 5 ft across and seats about 8. A 6-foot rectangular table seats 6 to 8. Our sister company SeaBreeze Party Rentals packages its tables by guest count, and you can mix rounds and rectangles freely:

Package Chairs and tables Seats if all 60-inch rounds Starting price
30 guests 30 chairs, 4 tables about 32 from $190
50 guests 50 chairs, 7 tables about 56 from $325
75 guests 75 chairs, 10 tables about 80 from $475
100 guests 100 chairs, 13 tables about 104 from $625

Each package also includes one linen per table. For a more detailed count, see how many tables and chairs you need for a kids’ party.

Rounds or rectangles?

  • Rounds are better for conversation and work well in a square patio or lawn.
  • Rectangles line up along a fence or the side of a house, which suits long, narrow side yards and buffet or gift tables.
  • A mix is often easiest: one or two rectangles for food and presents, rounds for guests.

Whatever you choose, leave enough room around each table for chairs to push back and for people to walk behind them carrying plates.

Step 3: Divide the Yard into Zones

Most backyard parties run smoothly with four zones:

  1. Bounce zone: the inflatable and its reserved space. Nothing else goes here.
  2. Seating zone: tables and chairs, ideally with a clear view of the inflatable’s entrance.
  3. Food and gift zone: a rectangular table near the house or kitchen door.
  4. Walkway: a clear path from the house to the seating area and to the inflatable entrance, kept free of cords and chairs.

The blower sits beside the inflatable and runs on one 110V outlet within about 50 ft. Plan the cord route so it does not cross the main walkway. If there is no outlet in range, arrange a generator.

Three Example Layouts

These examples are illustrations. Measure your own yard, because slopes, planters and trees change what fits.

Compact yard: bounce house plus 30 guests

Picture a yard about 40 ft wide and 30 ft deep. Reserve a 20×20 ft square in one corner for The Mermaid or Cool Shades Junior. That leaves a strip about 20 ft by 30 ft beside it. Line up rectangular tables along the fence or place a few rounds on the patio, using the 30-guest package. Turn the bounce house entrance toward the tables so parents can watch while they eat.

Long side yard: water slide plus 50 guests

Standard water slides need a long, narrow area of about 31 to 33 ft by 15 ft, which makes them a good fit for a long side yard or the length of a lawn. Put the seating on the opposite side of the yard from the splash pool so chairs and food stay dry, and keep the walkway away from the slide exit. Rectangular tables from the 50-guest package line up neatly along a long yard. Our water slide setup checklist covers water, drainage and towels.

Large yard: combo plus 75 guests

A large combo like Tropical Paradise or JAWS needs about 32 to 34 ft by 20 ft. Place it at the far end of the lawn, then set the 75-guest package’s 10 tables in a loose cluster closer to the house, with the food table by the door. If the party runs into the evening, add patio heaters near the seating zone only, well away from the inflatable and blower.

Common Layout Mistakes to Avoid

  • Measuring only the unit. A 13×13 ft bounce house needs about 18×18 to 20×20 ft, not 13×13.
  • Blocking the view. If adults cannot see the entrance from where they sit, someone has to stand by the inflatable the whole time.
  • Tables too close to the inflatable. Keep chairs and food out of the reserved space.
  • Cords across walkways. Route the blower cord along an edge.
  • Forgetting HOA or venue rules. Check our HOA rules guide if you live in a managed community.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bounce House and Table Layouts

How much space do I need for a bounce house and tables?

Reserve about 18×18 to 20×20 ft for a compact bounce house, then add enough room for your tables and a walkway. Measure your yard and sketch both zones before you book.

How many people does a 60-inch round table seat?

A 60-inch round table seats about 8 people. A 6-foot rectangular table seats 6 to 8.

Where should the bounce house entrance face?

Face the entrance toward the seating area so the supervising adult can see inside from where the adults are sitting.

How far can the bounce house be from an outlet?

Every unit needs one 110V outlet within about 50 ft of the setup spot. If you do not have one in range, plan for a generator.

Can I put a patio heater near the bounce house?

No. Keep patio heaters well away from inflatables, blowers and play areas, and place them by the adult seating instead.
